One of the great pleasures in life is to serve a
purpose, to live a life of meaning and to make a positive impact on
other people’s lives. Our annual Blackbelt Extravaganza is one of
the life affirming moments in which we, the Team at Premier Martial
Arts/Tampa Krav Maga, get to promote our students. In every
little-champion taking their next step, Blackbelt Training Course
student climbing one rung closer to Blackbelt and in every new
Blackbelt or advancing Blackbelt, wherever each is on their step of
the journey, we see the development and personification of all the
ideals for which we stand. We see their self-esteem shining, their
confidence bursting, their focus and discipline and self -control. I
am always particularly pleased and amazed at the incredible family
we are creating and how each and every student is being pulled by
someone above while pulling someone below. It is for me a meaningful
and magical thing and I thank God and all of my students and
customers and families for the privilege.

Congratulations to all the students who graduated
this Saturday and special congratulations to our newest Blackbelts:
Luke Persach, Madison Ogilvie, Anna Collins, Kellen Collins, Harley
Del Castillo, Philip Lima, Tyler Lumish, Antonio DeVito and Brandon
Gunn. Congratulations to our advancing Blackbelts, Kenneth Martinez
and Olivia Downing, to Shodan, 1st degree, and a special
congratulations to Steven Faison and Matthew Brewster, two
outstanding Sensei who have been by my side from the beginning and a
part of making us all we are today. I have had the privilege of
watching them grow as young men, martial artists and then teachers
over the last many years and I had the honor of promoting them to
SanDan, third degree, this weekend. I am proud of them; in the
humility that all great Blackbelts show, they are more proud of
their students than of themselves.

You can get yourself or someone else you love started on their
journey by emailing me at
shihansteve@mac.com. As it has been my honor empowering these
blackbelts lives with martial arts, it would be to do the same for
you and yours.
We also hosted hosted a Kick USA tournament at Pine
View Middle School this weekend. Thirty Premier students competed
and did fantastic, taking several 1st, second and third place
trophies. It was the first time out for many of these, but many of
the others have been competing and doing well on the circuit all
year. I’m not going to go through a listing if all the medals won
here for fear I would miss someone, but we’re proud of all of you.

The Krav Maga Summer Camp is planned for June 13 and
14. Training will be 10 hours Saturday and 6 Sunday, culminating
with testing Sunday afternoon. Friday night will be “0” day- campers
can come out, claim their bunk and hang out with fellow Krav
enthusiasts around the campfire before official training begins.
Practitioners of any and all levels are welcome to
attend. Beginners will get the experience of a lifetime and be
amazed at how much realistic self-protection they will gain in such
a short time. Intermediate and advanced students continue to refine
and progress their skills and test for further rank at the camp.
Everyone gets exactly what he or she needs; I guarantee it.
Krav Camp rocks! If you’ve already been, you know
that and I look forward to us training together again. If you
haven’t experienced it yet, you owe it to yourself. By the way,
there will be evening electives for fun like firearms training and
shooting, air soft and more, but we’ve decided to keep the scheduled
curriculum to only Krav Maga and let the rest just be a bonus. We’ve
learned from after action reviews every camp and this one will be
the best one ever!
Camp is $249 and includes all training, t-shirt,
certificate of completion and rank, picture/video DVD souvenir,
billeting and food. Email
shihansteve@mac.com for your own personal copy of the Operations
Order if you think you may be interested.
